TikTok star Matima Miller dies aged 19 in Washington shooting

Matima Miller, best known for his videos on TikTok under the names of Swavy and Babyface.s for his dancing, has been named as the victim of a shooting on July 5 in Wilmington, Delaware.

An investigation was launched following the fatal shooting at Elbert Place in Wilmington, and the police later identified the 19-year-old male gunshot victim as Matima Miller.

Police responded to an emergency call at about 10:42am on Monday morning and attended the Southbridge neighbourhood of Wilmington.

He was immediately taken to the hospital where he later died due to his injuries.

Miller often posted on TikTok with various dancing videos and built up a strong following of 2.5million fans regularly watching his videos.

Tributes have flooded in to remember Miller, with his friend and YouTube star Damaury “Kid Mauri” Mikula announcing the death of his friend in a video on Monday.

He said: “Yeah, my friend Swavy, man – he got shot.

“All he did was make videos – vids, vids, vids, going up, up, up.”

Mikula tearfully said he loved his friend, adding: “I’m about to go hard for you, bro. You were so innocent.”

While his friends were sharing tributes and memories with the TikTok star, fans of his page also flocked to comment on his profile.

Miller’s accounts were soon filled with tributes from fans who were sharing their devastation over the news of his death.

One user wrote: “RIP bro we lost a legend.”

Another added: “This can’t be true.”

A third person said: “Rest easy.”

Miller had been posting 100s of videos since he first launched his TikTok career.

The TikTok page is filled with dancing videos, paintballing and Miller generally having fun with his friends.

An investigation into the shooting launched on July 5.

Police have said that the shooting remains under investigation and they are yet to release any further details.
