Top Gear’s Freddie Flintoff says he wants to go to space to prove his theory that the Earth is flat.
The ex-England cricketer has hinted that he may believe the Earth is flat, revealing that he wants to go to space to prove the unfounded theory is in fact true.
In a new interview, the former international cricketer called on Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos specifically to help facilitate a journey to space, after the entrepreneur’s own trip this year.
Speaking to The Sun, Freddie said: “I am actually desperate to go into space. ‘Oi, Bezos, get the first Prestonian into space! I’ll prove the Earth is flat.’”
The 43-year-old also took the opportunity to poke fun at his co-hosts Chris Harris, 46, and Paddy McGuinness, 48, suggesting that he is the most attractive of the trio.
“Usually I have to work with Jamie Redknapp and I have to really try to look good. But with this pair it doesn’t matter,” he said, referring to his other presenting role on A League Of Their Own with the former professional footballer.
“We are just like trolls next to Freddie,” Paddy responded while laughing, as Chris chimed in: “We’re not under pressure in that regard.”
Since the trio came together in 2019, they have proved to be a presenting force to be reckoned with.
And their banter off camera is just as good as it is on screen.
Teasing Freddie, Paddy, 48, outs him as the vainest member of the team.
He says: “Every time we do a photo, Freddie has to stop and look at it.
“He’s like, ‘Are my arms right? Let me look’. I just walk away.”
Host Chris Harris said of the trio’s chemistry: “On Top Gear, you want both your co-hosts to be using one arm to hug you and the other to rabbit-punch you. That works very well with the other two because they’re total idiots!”
While Take Me Out host Paddy added: “Nothing is off limits with us. We have a great laugh off camera, as well as on it. I think that’s why it’s been such a success – because people believe us. Long may it continue!”
In the new series of Top Gear, the presenters will have the chance to drive some amazing motors including an Aston Martin V8 Vantage F1 Edition, Lamborghini Huracan, and a Rolls Royce Dawn.
The motoring mayhem will ensue as the team battle a trio of F1 drivers in a Silverstone shoot-out as they celebrate legendary rider Eddie Kidd OBE with a motorbike stunt spectacular, and test the newest, fastest supercars on sale.
