Trisha Goddard is set to make a triumphant return to daytime TV by standing on for Jeremy Vine while he is away on holiday.
The 63-year-old has been confirmed as the temporary presenter of the Jeremy Vine show on Channel 5 from tomorrow, August 16.
She will be hosting alongside regular presenter Storm Huntley.
Trisha is a chat show stalwart and had her own show, Bafta award-wining “Trisha” in the Nineties and Naughties, focusing on families, relationships and reunions.
In a statement she said: “It’s going to be fun stepping into Jeremy’s shoes and hosting a daily daytime show again.”
Show editor Ian Jones added: “Welcoming Trisha back to daytime TV will be a real treat for viewers.
“Together with Storm they are the perfect combination to take over the reins while Jeremy is away.
“She will bring just the right mix of expertise, energy and enthusiasm to the show, and we’re all looking forward to working with her over the next two weeks.”
Trisha lives in the States with her partner and has been vocal in her support for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle – who also reside in the US.
She recently slammed the “relentless bullying” the pair received over their new daughter’s name – Lilibet Diana.
At the time there was much speculation that the new parents had not consulted the Queen about using her childhood nickname.
During a segment on Good Morning Britain Trisha said the couple “can’t do anything right” and added: “I don’t believe for a minute that they didn’t talk to the Queen.
“It’s well known Harry and the Queen have a very close relationship.”
She emotionally continued: “It’s about pain. It is about pain and it’s, excuse my French, bloody relentless.
“It’s bullying now.”
Appearing alongside royal commentator Isabel Oakeshott, Trisha became embroiled in a row about what the couple’s next move should be.
As Isabel suggested: “What Harry and Meghan need to do to heal this rift is just to be quiet for a bit”.
“It’s so incompatible with why they left the country. This has been calculated to maximise media attention.”
She accused Harry of being “in danger of doing more damage to mental health” as he attempts to raise more awareness of topics like depression and anxiety through his docuseries with Oprah Winfrey.
But Trisha hit back, declaring: “Prince Harry has done nothing but good for mental health.”
