A TV host has gone off-script to take aim at Meghan Markle after she announced the release of her new children’s book.
The book is called The Bench and tells the story of the special bond between father and son, inspired by husband Harry and son Archie.
Meghan will read the audiobook of the picture book which has been illustrated by award-winning artist Christian Robinson and set to be published by Random House Children’s Books on June 8.
But Australia Today host Allison Langdon failed to hide her own disinterest after she went off-script during a segment about the Duchess of Sussex’s latest venture.

The 41-year-old went against her own autocue to disregard the comparison of Meghan to famous children’s authors.
While the script called for her to compare the royal to Roald Dahl and JK Rowling, Allison felt very differently and after the reading the words couldn’t help but label the comparison as a “stretch”.
She failed to hide her feelings when it came to the fact that Meghan would be narrating the audiobook as well.

She went on to add sarcastically: “Can you imagine anything better? I mean, pop it on in the car, pop it on at home when you’re cooking dinner. Meghan’s dulcet tones…”
In a press statement, Meghan said: “The Bench started as a poem I wrote for my husband on Father’s Day, the month after Archie was born. That poem became this story.”

Alison’s co-host couldn’t help but bust out laughing before joining in on the ribbing of the Duchess, saying: “They actually write poetry together!”
Another fierce critic of the book was unsurprisingly Piers Morgan who labelled the Duchess a “shameless money-grabber”.
He attacked Meghan once again in his latest column for the Daily Mail where he argued that she should not be writing a book based on father and child relationships since she is no longer on speaking terms with her own dad.
He wrote: “Lest we forget, Ms Markle has ruthlessly disowned her father Thomas and refuses to have anything to do with him despite the fact they now live just 70 miles from each other.”
He went on to call her a “cynical disingenuous manipulator” and Prince Harry a “spoilt brat teenager”.
Meghan said in her statement: “My hope is that The Bench resonates with every family, no matter the makeup, as much as it does with mine.”
The book is expected to become a bestseller, helped along by the fact that many fans of the Duchess have pledged to buy two copies of the book each to support her.
