Ulrika Jonsson defends 'loyal' Coleen Rooney for taking cheating Wayne back

TV star Ulrika Johnsson has defended “sad and lonely” Coleen Rooney for taking back Wayne Rooney after his cheating scandals, as the star reflected on her own infidelities.

The Swedish model and presenter praised her WAG pal for taking back her footy ace hubby, insisting she “isn’t one to judge”.

The 54-year-old waded into the debate after Coleen, 35, broke her silence on her husband’s infidelities in a new Amazon Prime documentary that will give fans a glimpse of the pair’s life behind the scenes.

Coleen branded her professional footballer husband’s behaviour “unacceptable” in the trailer for the doc, titled Rooney, which reflects on the life and career of the footballer.

The Liverpudlian has been criticised for sweeping her husband’s infidelity under the carpet.

Ulrika went on to say that although she found herself thinking Coleen had been “feeble” in her decisions, she understood their situation, having been unfaithful herself during her marriage to John Turnball.

In a lengthy op-ed for The Sun, Ulrika has defended the mum-of-four, and said she feels sorry for the 35-year-old, who she called “sad and lonely”.

She speculated that friends and family must have “passed comment” on Wayne’s affairs to Coleen, and Ulrika said many other women would’ve divorced the footballer if they were “in her shoes”.

The former Gladiators host said of Coleen: “Many will have pitied her for the sad, lonely life she must lead — in a marriage and yet so very much on her own.

“She is a loyal wife and she, most crucially, also sees the bigger picture. She understands the value of her husband as a father in their boys’ lives.”

Ulrika has previously spoken of her regret over cheating on her first husband, who she shares 27-year-old son Cameron with.

“I was so young. I didn’t know myself,” she told the Mail’s Weekend magazine in 2017. “I did some not very nice things. I was unfaithful, which is more than not nice.”

She later had a relationship with footballer Stan Collymore and then another with German hotel boss Marcus Kempen, who walked out on her when their daughter Bo was just a few weeks old.

Husband number two was Lance Gerrard-Wright, who was supposed to be the prize for the female contestants on Mr Right, a 2002 TV dating show she presented. Ulrika married him in 2003. She had their daughter Martha in 2004 and they separated in 2005.

In between there was an affair with then-England manager Sven-Göran Eriksson.

Ulrika divorced her third husband, Brian Monet, in 2019 after 11 years of marriage.
