Ainsley Harriot claims watching lamb being born was more special than childbirth

Telly chef Ainsley Harriot shocked viewers on the latest episode of the BBCs The One Show by claiming his experience watching a lamb being born was more special than watching child birth.

The 65-year-old TV presenter appeared alongside Grace Dent to promote their new show Best of Britain by the Sea, which sees the pair travel up and down the British coast to enjoy the very best food and experiences Britain has to offer.

As restaurant critic and co-host Grace, 48, began explaining a memorable experience where she helped a lamb be born on a farm, Ainsley stunned viewers and everyone in the studio by gushing about the special moment and saying it didn’t compare to the birth of a child.

‘It was so emotional. It was an incredible moment,” he said.

“It was seeing a new life, it doesn’t matter whether you’re talking about a pet dog, whatever it is, you know I’m a dog lover, your own born child is phenomenal.

“But when you see that lamb being born – you’ve been part of it..”

Host Jermaine Jenas then interrupted the star, saying: “Did you just put a lamb above a child?”

Ainsley and the rest of the guests immediately burst into hysterics amid their shock at his comparison.

“Oh that’s it I’ve done enough daddy for now,” said Ainsley.

One fan commented on Twitter: “#theoneshow he marvelled at a lamb being born… then he can’t wait to get it in the oven!”

A second added: “Lol what did you just say Ainsley? I think not!!”

Jermaine, joined by co-host Alex Jones on the latest instalment of the chat show, also welcomed comedian James Acaster who was promoting his new show, Hypothetical.

The One Show fans were also shocked earlier this week after Eurovision runner-up Sam Ryder revealed he ‘fell into a hedge’ after his Eurovision success.

Appearing on the show on Monday, Sam was asked by presenters Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas about his feelings as the results came in.

Sam said: “When the results started coming in – before that, we’re already stoked – there was nothing that we needed more.

“We had got everything from the experience.

“We were completely fulfilled but when the first 12 points came, I fell into a hedge.

“Fell off the chair, just fell.”
