Soul singer Alexander O’Neal would love to make some music with Boy George that will “shock the world”.
The Saturday Love singer chatted exclusively to the Daily Star and revealed how he is still in the studio making new music at 68-years-old.
Talking about his dream collaborations, Alexander said: “To be honest with you, I would love to work with someone who can shock the world and I would love to do a track with Boy George.
“We know each other and have seen each other many times. And all the time, I feel we have a lot of respect for each other I feel like Boy George and Alexander O’Neal would be a shocker. Hopefully, it will happen, I will have to reach out to him.”
Alexander also worked closely with another iconic, Prince, in the early stages of his career.
He explained how he had recorded a couple of tracks with the late singer, however, they didn’t quite “work out” and come to be released.
“I have a lot of respect for Prince, we have a lot to thank him for, he was the king of the Minneapolis music scene. Some things are not meant to be, the collaboration with Prince, he and I recorded a couple of songs out there but it just didn’t work out and it wasn’t meant to happen.
“But I always knew I would make it to the next level I just didn’t know when or how. But Prince, lord, rest his soul.”
Alexander will be performing at the upcoming ‘Giants of Soul’ Tour with other legendary soul acts from the ’70s,’80s and ’90s.
Talking about the tour, Alexander said: “This concept, Giants of Soul, I thought it was fantastic and it’s great to be a part of it. I always look forward to coming to the UK, and England especially, my fans always give me so much love.
“London is my favourite city, we lived there for a while, I love England. All my fans here are so loyal and that’s such a special thing to have, as they grow up with you and also grow older with you. It’s good to see that we still have the same relationship.”
The Giants of Soul Tour will also feature other big soul artists such as Tunde Baiyweu, Deniece Williams, Gwen Dickey, Jaki Graham, Janet Kay, plus new breakout star Candace Woodson.
