Alison Hammond shares 'devastated' tribute as This Morning legend quits ITV show

Alison Hammond told This Morning viewers that had been left “devastated” over the sad news that a key member of team had stepped down.

The 47-year-old host led an emotional tribute with her co-star Dermot O’Leary on Friday (February 11) after it had been confirmed that their sound man Alan had quit the show.

Paying heartfelt thanks, Alison began: “Alan who does all the sound effects and the music and everything is actually leaving. I’m absolutely devastated.”

Dermot interjected: “Oh he’s a genius. Where’s he going?”

Not wanting to accept that is was Alan’s last show, Alison asked: “Let’s have some sound – because this is what he does.”

With the tear-jerk music Our Tune playing in the background, Alison emotionally added: “He’s leaving today. He’s been an amazing member of staff here at This Morning.

“We just want to say: we love you, we’ll miss you and you have been the best. Thank you, anyway.”

“If you do change your mind Alan, do come back here. I don’t think wherever you’re going to go will give you the artistic license to just press any buttons you want,” joked Dermott.

Alan is the second member of the crew to announce that they are heading off to explore new career avenues.

Just days ago, Holly Willoughby gave thanks to a floor manager who had been with the show for many years.

The onscreen announcement came days after Holly Willoughby revealed This Morning’s longstanding floor manager had left.

GMB have also had their fair share of leavers with Tim Carr who had been a floor manager at the breakfast programme for over 30 years.

Tim explained on Twitter yesterday, that his departure hadn’t exactly gone to plan.

He wrote: “Well what a week it’s been. Last Thursday I left @ITV after 30 years, on Tuesday I tested positive for Covid, then today it was announced that me and @paulaloneill are going to be grandparents!!

“Congratulations to George and Jess on their upcoming arrival!!”

This Morning airs from 10am weekdays on ITV.
