Amanda Holden quits music industry as she vows to turn up the heat on BGT

Multi-million selling artists Ed Sheeran and Adele can breathe a sigh of relief because Amanda Holden has quit the music business.

The Britain’s Got Talent judge has vowed to never to make another album again.

The 51-year-old made her debut as a recording artist in 2020 with Songs From The Heart.

But after it was kept off the No1 slot by The Vamps she won’t be doing any more.

Talking openly about her singing career, Amanda revealed: “No. I have dropped the mic. I’m over it.”

Simon Cowell has teased she only made the top five in the charts because she went out and bought most of the copies. He joked: “I heard there are a lot of your records in the garage.”

But she hit back and said: “That’s your trick. He used to go and buy loads of records to try and get them to number one.

“It was a thing then back in those days. Now you have to stream them.”

Although Amanda won’t be making more music, she will be wearing more ‘”shock frocks” on BGT.

Her outfits often cause complaints to Ofcom for being inappropriate for a family ITV show.

But she teased: “I am thinking more rubber. I enjoyed wearing latex in the audition, and I am thinking of more latex in the lives. More latex, and more sweating.”

Despite the complaints that she racked up over the years from viewers, Amanda has never been censored by ITV for her risque ensembles.

A source told the Mirror: “There has never been any diktat from above about what she can or can’t wear.”

In 2017, the radio presenter left fans stunned when she wore a plunging Julien Macdonald gown.

The daringly low dress exposed parts of her chest and went down to her navel.

Amanda’s frock caused a frenzy amongst viewers and received 663 Ofcom complaints at the time.

However, after investigating the incident in June 2017, Ofcom did not take action.

A spokesperson for the regulator said: “We carefully assessed complaints that dresses worn by judges were inappropriate for a pre-watershed audience.

“We recognise that the dresses had the potential to offend some viewers during what is a family show.

“However, while some outfits were revealing, we considered it was appropriately scheduled and would not have exceeded most viewers’ expectations.”

Britain’s Got Talent kicks off for a bumper weekend this Saturday at 8pm and Sunday at 7:35pm on ITV.
