Proving a huge hit, the movie went on to spawn two sequels and 37 years on, the actors shared an emotional reunion at the Back to the Future panel at Comic Con in New York on Saturday (October 8).
Michael, 61, originally appeared on stage to rapturous applause.
He was soon joined by his former co-star Christopher, 83, with the pair sharing an emotional embrace.
Michael was quick to praise his older co-star, telling the audience: “The best part of this movie was working with Chris.”
Later confirming the pair had “immediate chemistry”, the actor and his co-star swiftly left fans feeling emotional at their reunion.
Posting to Twitter, some fans even admitted to being brought to tears.
One fan wrote: “If you were a teenager in 1985, then Michael J. Fox was your guy. Marty McFly in Back to the Future is the coolest teenager in cinema history. Watching him hug Christopher Lloyd like this is so beautiful.”
Another commented: “This picture warms my soul.”
Meanwhile, a third said: “I’m not crying. You are.”
A fourth fan added: “This iconic duo from Back to the Future, always in my heart,” while another joked: “Marty McFly and Doc Brown tearing up the space-time continuum again.”
Another fan concluded: “All my admiration and respect to this pair of actors, Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd, for the fun they gave us with Back to the Future.

Following his work on the Back to the Future franchise, Michael was diagnosed with young-onset Parkinson’s in 1991 at the age of 29.
Speaking earlier this year, the actor heartbreakingly revealed the condition was affecting his career as he was left unable to remember his lines.
