BBC Breakfast presenter Dan Walker was clearly distracted on Monday morning after he confessed he didn’t listen to a report from his colleague.
Reporter Sarah Croker appeared via video link from Castle Donnington to discuss employees returning to work now that Covid restrictions have been lifted.
But journalist Dan, 44, admitted that he didn’t listen to the “last 20 seconds” of her coverage because he was focused on the food in the background and the fact that Sarah mentioned that it was free.
As the cameras centred on Dan and his co-host Sally Nugent in the studio, Dan said: “I’ve got to confess, I didn’t listen to the last 20 seconds of that.
Giggling he said: “I got confused by the hash brown.”
Laughing at his comment, Sally agreed that she too wasn’t paying much attention.
She confessed: “Sarah thank you so much but we were just staring at the breakfast. Free breakfast let’s get there now.”
Awkwardly, Sarah chimed: “I thought so, it does look very tasty.”
Dan replied: “Enjoy your free breakfast Sarah, thank you very much!
“We’ll be there in about five minutes,” he joked.
Dan and Sally returned to the famous red sofa after a week off due to the school half term.
During the early hours of Monday morning, Dan took to his Twitter to share the news that he will be returning to the studio with his followers.
He penned: “Right then… back on #BBCBreakfast in the morning.
“Alarm set for 3am,” followed by a shocked and crying face emoji.
“Let’s do this!!!” He added.
Rushing to the comment section, one fan said: “6 hours sleep… I’d just give up now if that was me before work .. you are a trooper !!”
Another intrigued fan commented: “Oh my what’s your morning routine Dan?”
Meanwhile a third added: “What are you still doing up?! Night night Dan.”
During his time off, Dan jetted off to Rome for a much-needed family vacation.
The star also shared a rare snap of his two daughters online with his fans on Instagram while on holiday.
