Britain’s Got Talent fans have been desperate to discover who The Witch is – but some think thought they’d finally figured it out.
A lot of viewers became convinced that the mysterious act is a close TV pal of Ant and Dec – the hosts of the hit ITV talent show.
The punters reckon it could be ITV presenter Stephen Mulhern, who once hosted the BGT spin-off show Britain’s Got More Talent as well as the famous ‘Ant vs Dec’ segment on Saturday Night Takeaway.
The mysterious witch act was sent home during the semi-finals on Monday (May 30), but they still terrified judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon.
The Witch wreaked havoc in the BGT studio by chasing poor Amanda with a rat which seemed to magically appear from a box on the panel.
Amanda, 52, and Alesha, 43, decided they’d had enough and proceeded to flee the studio.
Viewers have been trading theories online in a bid to uncover the real person behind the creepy prosthetics – and many think it’s Stephen.
Taking to Twitter, one wrote: “The Witches…. that one was Stephen Mulhern I think, one in audition was Ant and I think the third one in clip was Dec #BGT.”
Another agreed: “@StephenMulhern I think your the witch #bgt.”
A third predicted: “The Witch is going to be Stephen Mulhern #BGT.”
Another added: “Actually, The Witch DOES sound a bit like Stephen Mulhern #BGT.”
Stephen himself responded to the Witch rumours in a backstage snap with makeup artist Lisa Armstrong who spruced him up for a mystery project.
The presenter quipped: “Everyone keeps asking if I’m the Witch from @bgt! Well you might want to ask @lisaarmstrongmakeup what I look like before she put makeup on me!”
Celebrity witch and body language expert Inbaal Honigman spoke exclusively to Daily Star after spotting some revealing clues about The Witch.
Inbaal thinks it could be Bake Off star Noel Fielding – given the act’s impressive TV skills and crowd-work.
She said: “Never looking at the TV cameras (which is harder than you’d think), this person is likely a pro around TV sets, but the constant eye contact with the judges, and the physical interaction – touching Amanda’s hands for example, suggest that this is likely a theatre person at heart, used to intimate shows in front of a responsive audience.”
Inbaal added: “If we’re looking for someone in the public eye who is a TV and theatre pro, who can speak in jaunty riddles and has gothy leanings, perhaps one Noel Fielding comes to mind.
“The heavy, worn walking boots are not like the Mighty Boosh star’s usual silver pointy footwear… but a lot of other elements fit like a glove!”
