Camilla 'pulled out of TV interview' to race up to Balmoral to be with Charles

Camilla, Queen consort of the United Kingdom, ditched a TV interview so she could rush up to Balmoral to be with her husband, King Charles III, who was with the Queen before she died.

Journalist Jenna Bush Hager, who is the daughter of former US President George W. Bush, said Camilla was due to do an interview with NBC News before word came of the Queen’s grave ill-health, reports the Daily Express.

Speaking outside King Charles and Camilla’s home, Jenna said: “We were invited to interview Her Royal Highness, Camilla. I was with Prince Charles last night and they have left now to go be with the Queen.”

Bush Hager said the network “was just hours away from our interview” when Camilla and Charles “took off to go see Her Majesty the Queen in Balmoral”.

The broadcaster continued: “They do not take these matters lightly.

“They have packed schedules full of many appointments. Today including, of course, an interview with us.”

Jenna said her thoughts were with the royal family at this difficult time.

“So, we are thinking about them, we are thinking about this beloved Queen who is loved around the world, particularly here in Scotland,” she said.

Following the death of the Queen, Charles now takes the title of King Charles III and has bestowed the title Prince and Princess of Wales to his son William and daughter-in-law Catherine.

“As my heir, William now assumes the Scottish titles which have meant so much to me,” King Charles said in his address to the nation on Friday (August 9).

“He succeeds me as Duke of Cornwall and takes on the responsibilities for the Duchy of Cornwall which I have undertaken for more than five decades.

“Today, I am proud to create him Prince of Wales, Tywysog Cymru, the country whose title I have been so greatly privileged to bear during so much of my life and duty.

“With Catherine beside him, our new Prince and Princess of Wales will, I know, continue to inspire and lead our national conversations, helping to bring the marginal to the centre ground where vital help can be given.

Camilla goes from the Duchess of Cornwall to Camilla, Queen consort of the United Kingdom, which King Charles also referenced in his speech.

“In recognition of her own loyal public service since our marriage 17 years ago, she becomes my Queen Consort,” he said.

“I know she will bring to the demands of her new role the steadfast devotion to duty on which I have come to rely so much.”
