To celebrate Charlotte Church’s 36th birthday (February 21), Daily Star is taking a look at where she is following her child star success.
The Welsh star rose to fame as a classical singer during her childhood before branching into pop music in the noughties.
During her years of popularity, she has released a handful of successful albums and she has even hosted her own Channel 4 chat show titled The Charlotte Church Show.
Earlier in February, she was unveiled as Mushroom on the out-there ITV show The Masked Singer, but what else has she been up to? Let’s take a look…
Love life
Fans of Charlotte’s have always been very interested in the star’s love life.
She is now happily married to musician Johnny Powell, however, things haven’t always been so rosy.
There was much public interest around her first relationship with her model ex Steve Johnson.
But things took a turn for the worse when her second boyfriend Kyle Johnson was later jailed for possession of a large amount of heroin.
She then went on to date Welsh rugby player Gavin Henson in 2005. The couple bought a Cardiff property together, followed by a 20-acre manor in the Vale of Glamorgan.
The couple got engaged in April 2010 and she made the British young people’s rich list with Gavin being ranked 49th-richest young people in with an estimated joint wealth of £12million.
The couple split 10 days after getting engaged but do share two children, Ruby Megan Henson and Dexter Lloyd Henson.
Later that year, Charlotte then started dating her now-husband Johnny, with whom she also now shares her daughter Frida, who was born in 2020.
Ditching booze
After her angelic youth of being the picture-perfect child star, Charlotte eventually changed her image and transformed into a bit of a party girl.
She was often pictured in the tabloids after a boozy night out, but a couple of years ago, she revealed that she had decided to ditch binge drinking for good.
Charlotte Church has ditched binge drinking because she doesn’t want to deal with “hangxiety”.
The singer explained in 2019 that she “had enough” of the way she feels the next day so decided to cut it out.
At the time, she told The Guardian: “I have had enough of the creeping panic, shame and guilt that comes with drinking. A spell without alcohol left me thoroughly restored…
“I just don’t want to deal with the hangxiety any more: the creeping panic, the shame, the guilt. I already renounced Catholicism.”
Famous feuds
Charlotte has never been shy of speaking her mind and will be the first to put someone back in their place.
In 2005, Cheryl accused Charlotte Church of copying the sound of one of Girls Aloud’s tracks.
However, Charlotte bit back and said: “Girls Aloud wouldn’t be able to sing Crazy Chick if they possibly tried. They just don’t have the range, darling.
“And when they’ve sold as many records as me, then they can comment … Maybe Cheryl is bitter.”
Their fury continued with Charlotte branding the iconic girl band as “five dogs without balls”.
She also claimed Cheryl had “no backbone” for taking her ex-husband Ashley Cole back following his cheating allegations.
To which, Cheryl branded Charlotte “a nasty little piece of work with a fat head” before describing Charlotte’s then-boyfriend Gavin Henson as “scabby” and calling him “a posing idiot who looks like a girl”.
Though fast forward to 2013 and Charlotte said Cheryl was “really good” on The X Factor, which could have meant they had put the past behind them.
