Corrie fans thrilled as Laura Neelan star confirms return in lookalike snap

Coronation Street fans were delighted to discover a popular character making her epic return to the cobbles.

The soap star confirmed her return in a behind the scenes snap shared to Instagram – after her character disappeared from ITV’s Weatherfield for months.

Kelly Neelan (Millie Gibson) was released from prison for Seb Franklin’s murder – and she’s had to endure in tough times in soapland ever since.

She has been on a downward spiral and moved to temporary accommodation after no longer being able to live with Imran and Toyah.

Kelly was then forced to sleep on the streets after crossing one of the residents and began taking drugs in an attempt to escape her problems.

But things could improve for Kelly, as her mum Laura Neelan (Kel Allen) will now return to Weatherfield.

The last time Kelly saw her mum was when she was in court for Seb’s murder.

But following the trial, she abandoned Kelly once again.

Posting a picture with lookelike star Kelly, played by Millie Gibson, Kel said: “Hello 2022! Back to it with my babba!”

Fans were ecstatic to see Kel back on the Cobbles.

One said: “Can’t wait to see you two again in Corrie! Millie, you’re looking very well too.”

A second wrote: “Just like twins!!!”

A third commented said: “It’s great to have you on this show & you do fly the flag for Wigan for us.”

A fourth added: “Can’t wait to see you both back on screen together!!!”

Kell also played a guest role on Corrie back in 2018 – Lulu Lockett

It’s not the first time Kel has starred on Corrie, because she played a guest role back in 2018.

Kel appeared as Tassels strip club manager Lulu Lockett – where Bethany Platt worked for a short time.

Openeing up about playing two roles on the show, Kel said: “I went to audition for the show’s casting director Gennie Radcliffe.

“Obviously she’d already cast me as Lulu Lockett. She’s a brilliant casting director – she never forgets faces and she never forgets talent. If she thinks you’re right for something, no matter how far down the line, she’d always bring you in.”
