Corrie's Phill is 'copycat killer' as fans twig twist after Stape link exposed

Coronation Street fans are sure there is more than meets the eye when it comes to Phill Whittaker’s character on the cobbles.

On Monday (May 23) it was revealed Phill was planning to write a book about Fiz’s ex-husband John Stape, the serial killer who haunted the cobbles – along with a podcast linking Fiz with the likes of kidnapped Rosie Webster.

But now fans are sure that the book could just be a front for something a lot more sinister.

And some have even suggested Phill himself could be a serial killer intent on copying John’s methods, and the book is just a cover-up for his nefarious research.

Taking to Twitter, one fan suggested: “#Corrie Someone with an obsession with murderers. Phill is a murderer himself I’m calling it!”

As another posted: “He just seemed too into the story for it to be over, I’m wondering if he could be a copy cat like John or a distant family member of John.”

Someone else agreed: “I hope something else crops up. I don’t like that Phill. He’s a good actor ‘cos I think that we’re meant to not like him.

“I’m getting way too invested in #Corrie I’m morphing into one of those women who’ll shout at Georgia Taylor in the street ‘Give Alfie back!'” they joked.

A fourth fan added: “Btw I don’t believe anything Phill has just said about a book. I think that’s a cover up for something else #Corrie.”

Others are simply sure that Phill had his eye on Fiz for the very reason she used to be married to John Stape, as a source of extracting information for his book.

One penned: “Something tells me that Phill has known about John Stape longer than that week since he and Fiz had that meal with his friends. No WAY has he done all that ‘research’ in one week. #Corrie.”

After the episode last night, someone else echoed: “I still think Phill is covering up something maybe a private investigator or reporter I’m not sure but something not right there.”

As someone else replied: “Defo more to it. No way has he found out everything he has/done everything he has, in the few short days since he and Fiz had that night out with those people.”

Coronation Street airs Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8pm on ITV.
