Cruz Beckham's topless photoshoot causes fury as it's slammed for 'double standard'

Cruz Beckham’s debut magazine cover has received a cold response from fans online as many branded his topless photoshoot “disturbing”.

David and Victoria Beckham’s youngest son – who celebrated his 17th birthday on Sunday (20 February) – shared his first cover shoot with i-D magazine.

And the proud mum couldn’t help but share how proud she was of her youngest son as he dedicated the shoot to his dad.

The Spice Girl shared a sweet side-by-side comparison to the lookalike snaps from the former footballer as he posed for magazine Arena Homme Plus in 2000 when he was 25.

She proudly told her 29.5million followers “He’s learned from the best” as she shared the snap on her Instagram Stories.

Victoria also shared a selection of photos from the shoot on her main feed which she captioned: “Big first day as a 17-year-old! @cruzbeckham for @I_d, so proud [red heart emoji].”

Similar to his father’s noughties shoot, the teen copied the look entirely, but fans thought it was a step too far.

There were a few obvious changes Cruz added as he sported bright pink hair which had slightly grown out from his winter buzz cut.

He also accessorised the photo with layered silver chain necklaces which and matching silver rings and earrings.

The Justin Bieber superfan completed the edgy look by showing off his silver grill in his first photoshoot and tell-all interview for The Out of Body issue, which he hopes will serve as a springboard for his dream of making it into the music industry.

Followers couldn’t help but point out the double standards online

But concerned fans couldn’t help but raise the alarm on Monday evening as many pointed out how the youthful shoot – which was taken while he was still 16 – could be seen as shameless sexual objectification of a minor.

Followers soon flooded to Twitter to share their outrage on social media, as one fan fumed: “Cruz Beckham half-naked on the cover of a magazine at 17 is such a double standard. Imagine the outrage if it was a 17 yr old girl.”

Another pointed out: “Why is it socially acceptable for Cruz Beckham to be taking photos in his underwear/ grabbing his crotch/ clearly showing he has tattoos under age when he was 16 when the photos were taken?! And why is Victoria hyping them? He’s a child.”

A third chimed in with: “He’s turning 17 today, so this is a 16 year old boy in these pictures. A bit creepy. That’s a child you’re sexualising.”
