Dancing on Ice chaos as bosses fear show might not air due to Storm Eunice

Dancing on Ice bosses fear the show might not air on Sunday due to Storm Eunice.

The ITV series hosted by Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby is filmed on the very open and windy Bovingdon Airfield in Herts.

Crews are worried their production cabins and marquees on site may get damaged or even blown away by the storms.

Producers are concerned the show – which has celebrity skaters Bez, Brendan Cole and Kimberly Wyatt among the line-up – may suffer the same fate of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! last year.

When Storm Arwen struck, the gales caused £1 million worth of destruction to production areas at Gwryth Castle in Wales.

As a result, Ant and Dec were forced to take their show off air for three nights.

Dancing On Ice chiefs are now panicking that this latest storm might do the same.

One crew member said: “We are bracing ourselves.”

A show source said however: “We are monitoring the situation and have altered training times as the health and safety of our cast and crew is paramount.

“But we are confident that it won’t affect the show.

“Fans will be treated to some spectacular performances from our cast as this week we celebrate musicals.”

Dancing on Ice has already lost one skater this weekend.

Earlier this week, it was confirmed that Brendan Cole’s professional skating partner Vanessa Bauer has been forced to sit out of this weekend’s show after testing positive for coronavirus.

Brendan will pair up with male skater Brendyn Hatfield in Vanessa’s place, making them the second same-sex skating duo who have competed on the series.

Previously, H from Steps was partnered with Matt Evers.

Brendan has since compared he and Brendyn’s forthcoming routine to that performed by Will Ferrell and Jon Heder in the 2007 comedy film Blades of Glory.

Dancing on Ice is scheduled to resume at 6pm on Sunday on ITV.
