ITV’s Dancing On Ice displayed their solidarity with Ukraine during Sunday night’s show as they showed an image of the Ukrainian flag on the ice.
The dancing competition kicked off with a bang as celebrities were tasked with using props in their dance routines.
But as presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield stood on the famous ice rink, the colour blue and yellow swept over the ice.
It comes as Russian president Vladimir Putin staged a full-scale invasion of the country, leaving hundreds of Ukrainian citizens dead and more injured.
Seeing the flag highlighted on the show, fans of the popular ITV production jumped onto Twitter to share their views on the political message.
One impressed viewer penned: “Loving the Ukrainian flag on the ice there.”
Another fan acknowledged: “The ice was just in the colours of the Ukrainian flag.”
While a third said: “#dancingonice standing with Ukraine.”
Due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on Thursday, several entertainment shows have highlighted the crisis on their programmes.
Earlier this week, Holly and Phil hosted a delayed This Morning on ITV due to the ongoing conflict.
The presenters then went for a further update on what was going on as they began the programme, after Holly explained that there would be interruptions throughout the show.
Kicking off the daytime show, Holly said: “Now, as you might have noticed, there’s a slightly different schedule on ITV this morning.
“We’ll be bringing you the latest on the situation in Ukraine via our colleagues at ITV News at both 11 o’clock and also at mid-day.”
Viewers also rushed to Twitter to share their sadness regarding the conflict as the show went on.
One This Morning viewer wrote: “Sad news. Thinking of people in Ukraine, stay safe.”
A second shared: “It is very sad that there are still people with this mentality in the world. Willing to harm others for their own gain. It is quite sickening and my heart is with the people of Ukraine.”
On Sunday evening’s Dancing on Ice, presenters Holly and Phil never mentioned the conflict at the opening however the flag was more than enough to get their message across.
