EastEnders fans have fallen in love with the show after Albert Square received a fresh lick of paint as Martin Fowler took a cheeky swipe at the new set.
During Monday’s (7 March) instalment of the popular BBC One soap, viewers couldn’t help but notice the TV transformation as bosses opened the show with an aerial shot of Watford.
The camera panned down to Martin and Sharon Watts as they left the house while the blonde belle asked his opinion of her new coat.
But the cheeky chap couldn’t help poke fun at her outfit as she walked out in a new coat which looked strikingly similar to the old one.
She proudly asked: “So Martin, you like?” to which he responded: “Well it looks just the same as the old one.”
As they walked down the street together she snapped back: “Oi! This is good quality … and last years.”
He joked: “At least it doesn’t have that funny smell any more” as he ran down the street before she could shout at him again.
As the long-standing show aired, viewers swarmed to Twitter to share their thoughts on the new set online.
One user penned: “I’m genuinely so happy, that overview show was amazing # EastEnders.”
Another agreed: “Loved that opening, especially Sharon and Martin’s cheeky scene #EastEnders.”
A third pointed out: “Sharon’s new coat is a reference to the new EastEnders set. Classy touch #EastEnders.”
It comes as fans anxiously wait for Grey Atkins to be arrested for the murder of Tina Carter, Kush Kazemi and Chantelle Atkins.
The popular show made the move to the new permanent time 7.30pm slot every on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday and will no longer air on Fridays.
