EastEnders legend Charlie Brooks confirms first job since dramatic BBC soap exit

EastEnders star Charlie Brooks has confirmed her first acting job after quitting the BBC soap.

The actress, 41, will bow out as Janine Butcher in dramatic scenes to air later this year.

The Ocean at the End of the Lane will tour throughout the UK and Ireland.

Charlie is currently scheduled to perform through until 3 June 2023, with further dates to be confirmed.

Speaking about her EastEnders exit, she previously told The Sun: “I was only ever due back to EastEnders for a year, but when [exec producer] Chris Clenshaw presented me with his idea for the story, I couldn’t say no to staying a little longer.

“I’ve had an amazing time, as I always do when I go back.

“But as always with Janine, she probably should not outstay her welcome — for everyone’s sake.”

Last month, Charlie confirmed she would be exiting EastEnders yet again in an explosive storyline which is expected to play out on screens over the New Year.

Her onscreen brother Ricky (Sid Owen) is set to return in the dramatic storyline which follows Janine falling pregnant with Mick Carter’s baby.

Mick actor Danny Dyer will also exit the soap over the festive period, with the soap star recently pictured filming dramatic clifftop scenes.

His character could be seen jumping from a cliff and into the sea after a car carrying Janine and his estranged wife Linda (Kellie Bright) plunged into the depths.

Danny confirmed he would be leaving the show after nine years as Mick back in January, promising fans his exit storyline would be “special”.

EastEnders airs on BBC One.
