EastEnders Steven Beale star unrecognisable in new role five years after sad soap exit

EastEnders star Aaron Sidwell played Steven Beale until 2017 and now looks uncregonisable in a new film role.

The actor, 34, was first introduced as Ian Beale’s adopted son in 2007 and portrayed the role on and off for 10 years before he was killed off in dramatic fashion.

His character met his end moments after he confessed his love to Abi Branning, suffering a fatal cardiac arrest following an altercation with Max Branning.

Five years after his tragic soap exit, Aaron looks unrecognisable as he steps into the shoes of the villainous Priest in dark drama Fyre Rises.

Taking to Instagram with a snap of himself in character, the former Walford resident looked completely different as his unhinged appearance resembled that of the Batman villain, The Joker.

Aaron showcased his washed out face with white makeup, adding red lipstick and a leopard print jacket to the striking look.

Alongside the chilling snap was the simple caption: “Coming Soon….#Priest @fyrerises”.

Fellow EastEnders actor Ricky Grover, who played the nephew of Dot Branning, Andrew Cotton and Benidorm’s Jake Canuso will also star alongside Aaron in the upcoming project.

This is the actor’s first major role since departing Albert Square, having only made an appearance in one episode of Doctors in 2021.

Back in 2020, Aaron voiced his concerns about struggling financially during the covid pandemic after he was left jobless because of it.

The star, who shares daughters Matilda and Isla with ex wife Grace Isted, took to Twitter to express his concern about keeping on top of his bills as a father of two.

Aaron says despite the government’s extensive furlough plans and grants, he has fallen through the cracks due to his self employed status.

The concerned star wrote: “It’s hard to keep smiling when everything I’ve worked so hard to build for 13 years could be taken away because I had three successful financial years.

“I could, quite seriously, earn £0 in 12 months. #selfemployed #fallenthroughthecracks #fatheroftwo.”
