Emmerdale fans were left fearing the worst with many believing that Cain Dingle could die during the soap’s special flash forward week.
As of Monday (May 9), the beloved long-standing show has featured a week of spoilers where the start of the episode shows a snippet from later on in the week before flashing back to current times.
And it’s fair to say fans have loved the new format which has left many viewers scratching their heads as to what is in store for the star-studded cast in the next few days to come.
In Wednesday’s (May 11) opening teaser, the ITV soap confirmed that it is Cain who is involved in the horrific car crash yet to come as the short clip saw his unconscious body slumped over the steering wheel covered in blood.
This sent viewers spiralling over the safety of the much-loved TV character as many soap watchers have shared their fears that Cain could die in the possibly fatal crash on social media.
Taking to Twitter, one user penned: “NOT CAIN!” as another agreed, saying: “You best not kill Cain!”
A third fan of the show predicted: “Cain Dingle might die in Emmerdale,” which they signed off with a slew of shocked emojis.
While another viewer argued: “Very confusing start with flashbacks I can only assume someone gets killed in a car crash.”
It comes after Emmerdale left viewers in a frenzy after they released an explosive first look at the ITV soap’s flash forward last month where Cain – whose feud with Al reaches new levels – threw a menacing look into his car mirror.
The ITV bosses teased: “As the week commences, in the gloom we see a misty graveyard with an open grave.
“The slamming of an iron police cell door and the sound of a gunshot rings out in the woods before we see a crumpled car steaming in the flood having just had a terrible accident… but whose bodies are in the wreck and what does it all mean?
“The war between Cain Dingle, played by Jeff Hordley, and adversary Al Chapman, played by Michael Wildman, seems to show no signs of abating, but could this special week be the culmination of their mutual loathing?”
Emmerdale airs on weekdays on ITV from 7.30pm.
