Emmerdale's Kim Tate and Mary 'set for romance' as fans twig Will Taylor twist

Emmerdale fans are sure they’re in for a huge romance twist as Mary Goskirk and Kim Tate look set for a love affair.

It comes after Kim kicked her fiancée Will Taylor out of the house, declaring the engagement off after he lied to her about her son Jamie still being alive.

The pair have been growing closer as of late, with Mary heading round to Kim’s on various occasions, with Kim inviting Mary round for a strong drink after arguing with Will at the Hop.

A question from Kim makes Mary evasive, but as she relays the story of her first love to the Home Farm matriarch, it’s as though a weight has been lifted.

Mary admitted that it would have been her 54th wedding anniversary, telling Kim: “We were more like best friends than husband and wife, but we muddled along.”

Fans think Mary and Kim could be set for a love affair

But when Kim pressed whether there’d ever been anyone else, Mary shuttered up her feelings and rushed to the kitchen to make a cup of tea.

Eventually, though, she told Kim the truth about her sexuality, admitting: “There is no ‘my truth’, there is only the truth. I’m gay.”

She laughed: “Oh my goodness, I’ve said it. It’s only taken me my whole life, but I’ve actually said it!”

Could Kim and Mary become an item?

Things turned emotional as Mary said: “In those days there was no representation… It never quite went away, this little, neglected part of me that I kept hidden from the world.”

One eagle-eyed fan was sure they’d spotted chemistry between them, as they tweeted: “Anyone else really shipping Mary and Kim?”

Another suggested: “50th birthday storylines, Mary and Kim get married!”

“Kim & Mary are actually quite alike. I’m loving them,” someone else said. As a fourth fan added: “I think Mary wants a bit of Kim!”

Another social media user then said: “That’s right Kim, f*** Will off and give Mary a go!”

It comes as fans are predicting Will and Kim could be over for good, despite characters in the village being sure Kim was simply being hasty.

Mary went on to discuss the woman she’d been in love with, Louise, admitting she had “dithered for months”, afraid of scaring her off – before she sadly died in hospital during lockdown.

“She died alone on the Covid ward, and she never knew how much she was loved,” Mary told Kim, as the Home Farm owner reassured her: “I’m sorry. Louise sounds like a remarkable woman.”

Emmerdale airs weekdays from 7:30pm on ITV.
