Ex-Emmerdale star Michael Parr has been reflecting on the ‘jobs he lost’ after some tough years in the acting industry.
The actor played Ross Barton in the Dales from 2013 until 2018, dealing with a whole host of heavy storylines – from cheating plots to a violent acid attack.
He eventually left the role four years ago and went to launch an acting career in the States.

But it appears it hasn’t all been plain sailing for the star, as he has lost jobs as well as landing them.
In a stark New Year reflection post, Michael turned to Instagram to share an update with his followers, writing candidly: “Acting – 2022. Jobs I’ve taped for, jobs I’ve had, jobs I’ve lost, jobs I wanted, jobs I got.
“It’s a funny old game but there’s nothing else I’d rather do.”
He then continued: “2022. Highs, lows, blows, judo throws. Love, hate, tears and beers. Cocktails, epic fails, some sorrow, some ‘I’ll see you tomorrow’.
“We’ve lost family, we’ve gained friends… who knows where it’ll end?”
His fans were thankfully on hand to offer some words of support, with EastEnders star Danielle Harold – who is set to be axed from the BBC soap after a harrowing brain tumour storyline – writing: “Ahhh great ain’t it, happy new year!”
Another fan wrote: “Here’s to another year of adventure!”
While a third said: “Happy New Year, please come back to Emmerdale!”, with another telling him: “Great work. All the best in the year to come.”

Someone else couldn’t resist posting: “Words circling that you may be making a comeback as Ross Barton…”
“Bring him back!” another social media user begged, while somebody else echoed: “We miss you on Emmerdale Mike!”
Since leaving Emmerdale, Mike has held various roles in various films and TV shows, including appearing in Mister Mayfair, Bulletproof and Colosseum.
And despite fans’ best efforts, it doesn’t seem like he’ll be heading back to Soapland any time soon either – although he is a familiar face there, having appeared in Casualty, Hollyoaks and Doctors in his years before the ITV Dales.
