Gemma Owen says dad Michael Owen gave her 'no rules' as she heads to Love Island

Love Island babe Gemma Owen has admitted her famous dad has given her the green light to do whatever she wants on the dating show.

The brunette beauty is the daughter of legendary England player Michael Owen and his wife Louise Bonsall and will be entering the infamous Villa when Love Island season eight kicks off on Monday, June 6.

Gemma, 19, has now confessed that she won’t hold back from having fun for the sake of her parents when the show kicks off – but she still has her own personal boundaries.

The international dressage star and business owner revealed that dad Michael told her to “make her own decisions” when it comes to things like getting intimate on TV.

She told Daily Star: “Yeah, they’ve not really given me any rules which is really nice.

“I think they do trust me. I’ve never given them a reason not to.

“My dad actually said to me ‘I’m not going to tell you what you can and can’t do. It’s up to you. You can make your own decisions.’ But I’m very close to my family so I wouldn’t do anything that would purposefully disrespect them or embarrass them.”

However, Gemma does still plan to keep her parent’s feelings in mind as things progress in the Villa over the summer.

She added: “They’ve not said you can and can’t do this but I’m very aware of what they would potentially feel uncomfortable with so I’m going to keep that in mind.”

Talking about why she decided to apply for Love Island Gemma said: “I am open to finding love, I’m wanting to have a really fun summer.

“I was seeing someone and then that didn’t work out so I thought, ‘Why not?”

Gemma has also revealed that she is ‘very honest’ and a ‘good person to talk to’, saying: “I would say I’m fun, flirty and fiery.

“I think I’m good at giving advice, I’m a good person to talk to, I’m very honest.

“If I want the same guy, I’d do it but in a nice respectful way.”

Love Island starts on ITV2 on Monday, June 6 at 9pm
