Hayden Panettiere has confirmed that the daughter she shares with Ukrainian boxer Wladimir Klitschko is “safe” after Ukraine was invaded by Russia.
The Nashville actress told worried fans that seven-year-old Kaya is “not in Ukraine”.
Hayden, 32, updated her followers after speaking out in a long Instagram post in support of the people in Ukraine.
Sharing a picture of herself opening her arms to hug someone whose face can’t be seen, she wrote: “I have personally witnessed the strength of the Ukrainian people who fought so hard for their independence and have continued to passionately defend their country over the years.
“What Putin is doing is an absolute disgrace!
“This horrific moment in history sends a terrifying message: the message that in this day and age, in year 2022, it’s okay to violate the rights of free people and allow autocrats like Putin to take whatever they please.”
The Heroes beauty said that she was “praying for my family and friends there and everyone who’s fighting”.
“I wish you had more support and I wish I was there fighting with you!” she went on.
“For now, I ask for those of us who can’t be there to stand shoulder to shoulder in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and show your support for #democracy.”
Fans started to ask whether the star’s little girl was safe amid the ongoing crisis.
And she replied: “She’s safe and not in Ukraine.”
Hayden and Wladimir were first romantically linked in 2010 and got engaged in 2013, then had Kaya together in December 2014.
The couple were an item on and off until 2018, when they went their separate ways.
At the time a source told E! News that they were “on great terms and friendly”.
“They are a big part of each other’s lives and will continue to be,” the insider added.
