Helen Skelton urged not to 'share her hurt over marriage split' on social media

Countryfile star Helen Skelton should continue to use social media to aid in self-growth amid her recent marriage split, an expert explains.

Earlier this year, the 39 year old left the nation shocked in April when she announced that her husband Richie Myler had decided to leave her and their two children.

In an attempt to put her worries behind her, Helen will be appearing on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing in September.

But as the show soon kicks off, Psychologist and Sex Advisor Barbara Santini said the star should use her social media platform wisely and steer clear of discussing her relationship battles on her platform.

Barbara said: “Use your social media for self-growth. While most of us are tempted to post about our break-up, that is always not a great idea.

“Having said that, post habits (think: learning a new language, taking up a new hobby, or hitting the books) you have adopted to improve your self-growth rather than talking about your breakup.”

She added: “Think Twice Before Sharing Details of Your Relationship. While everyone mourns the loss of a relationship differently, you may want to think twice before sharing the details of your relationship. If it is a way of reaching out to your social network for help, do it.

“On the other hand, if you are telling other people about your relationship to hurt your ex, it is best to avoid it.”

But Barbara did agree that Helen joining Strictly would be a great thing for her to do while mentioning that it is not too soon to appear on the popular reality show.

She continued: “As a relationship expert, I don’t think it is too soon for heartbroken Helen to join Strictly Come Dancing. Staying busy is one of the best ways to mourn the death of a romantic relationship.

“More responsibilities allow you to focus on yourself, increasing your self-worth.”

The expert finished off by saying that being busy would be best for the presenter.

Barbara said: “For Helen, acting is the best way to stay busy. If being on screen is not your thing, there are a myriad of ways you can take more responsibilities and move around a breakup.

“Just find out what works for you best.”
