Holby City fans were treated to a blast from the past tonight as former surgeon Michael Spence returned to screens.
The BBC medical drama, which aired in a rare Monday slot this week at the later time of 8.30pm, saw Hari Dhillon reprise his role as Holby’s former consultant having said goodbye to the soap in 2014.
Dom came face to face with Michael when he snuck off from Holby City Hospital for an interview at a private hospital and bumped into the old character.
It’s a sweet nod to the soap’s previous storylines as it prepares to come to an end later this year.
Dom’s interview is conducted by none other than Michael, who offers him a lucrative offer on some research which could leave Sasha high and dry.

Fans were elated to see the American return to the soap as the long-running series rapidly approaches its final episode.
“Michael Spence back at @BBCHolbyCity. My all time favourite character EVER! @DhillonHari Loved it!! I am going to really miss Holby when it ends #HolbyCity,” one viewer gushed.
A second added: “Shut the front door! Did not expect to see Michael Spence back!”

Michael made Dom a lucrative offer on the project, and for a moment it looked like the young consultant would be tempted back to his old sneaky ways.
But Dom returned to Holby and announced he had turned the job down.
Dom also runs into another face from his more recent past – his friend Donna.
Fans saw an exhausted Donna impulsively quit her role at Holby a few weeks ago.

Elsewhere in the episode, after her dramatic birth last week, nervous new mum Billie was due to be discharged from the hospital.
Later, a chance meeting with Billie helped a struggling Amelia come to terms with giving baby Juliet back to Nicky, although some fans believe she may just be desperate enough to steal a baby after her recent disappointment.
“Why does this storyline give me Amelia is going to steal a baby vibes? #HolbyCity,” said one viewer.
A second added: “Please tell me Amelia is not going to try and steal a child?!”
Following the hospital’s discovery that Madge was the mole feeding information to the CSD, it was time for her to face the consequences in tonight’s instalment of Holby City.
She was suspended just moments before collapsing with internal bleeding leaving Kylie concerned for her wellbeing.
Madge later admitted it was her daughter that had been physically abusive towards her, despite concerns it was her husband.
