Holly Willoughby warns Joel Dommett 'you cannot drink whilst hosting NTAs'

Holly Willoughby told Joel Dommett that he “cannot” booze when hosting this year’s National Television Awards.

This Morning host Holly had some stern words of advice for the comedian, who has returned to host the NTAs for the second time running.

Joel will front the glitzy award show at London’s OVO Arena in Wembley on October 13 – in front of the biggest names in television.

However, sadly he won’t be able to do any boozing during his hosting stint, and Holly was quick to remind him of that.

Holly told Joel Dommett he can’t have a booze at the NTAs

Holly spoke to Joel about his hosting duties Tuesday’s This Morning (October 11), and how he’ll likely have to deal with drunken stars in the audience.

She said: “Like many people who are all sitting there in that arena, they’ve all maybe had a few drinks beforehand. They’re all in party, party mode.”

Joel agreed: “Yes…” before Holly went on to explain the pressures he has, adding : “I mean you really are holding it all together and you have to stay focused.”

Joel is hosting the TV award show for the second time, but he’s fine with not drinking

The Masked Singer host admitted that he “can’t drink” as he’s the “ship driver” of the ceremony, which prompted an intervention from Holly.

Holly agreed: “Ship driver. No you cannot [drink]! Does that become frustrating at times?”

Joel replied: “It’s kind of okay. You guys know, I love live TV. It’s so great, and all of the things that happen in the moment.”

He went on to recall the sweet moment he had to lift up young Corrie star Jude Riordan for his speech as he wasn’t tall enough to reach the microphone.

Ten years old at the time, Jude scooped up the Best Newcomer award and took to the stage in an adorable tuxedo.

Joel admitted the panicked director had told him to “do something” as host before decided to lift the actor up, in what quickly became a golden TV moment for viewers.
