Jennifer said: “We were tied up properly and in the moment, you’re trying to escape. I really got stuck in that so much.

“I ended up having to see a physio for a few sessions after because I pulled so hard on my neck.”

Jennifer was also left exhausted by scenes that involved plenty of running.

She said: “I was like, ‘I want to do this properly… I don’t want to do any staged, fancy, no sweating running!’

“I wanted to get stuck in. And obviously I didn’t have running shoes on… I had flat boots. So by the end of the day my feet were killing. The action scenes really took it out of me!”

Jennifer is now keen to be in an action movie.

She added: “That would be a dream. If I ever do a film, that’s definitely the sort of one I’d go for.”

Evil Silas has returned to the soap with the aim of abducting Bobby Costello, but the McQueen family are ready to thwart the serial killer.

The actions starts with Jennifer’s character Mercedes mysteriously missing before more drama ensues.

When asked if her character is scared for her family, Jennifer told Inside Soap: “Yes, but she feels on her own with this situation, she knows ultimately this is between her and Silas.

“Mercedes is already feeling the pressure of being head of the family, and it’s worse when lives are at stake.”

The events will lead to a major death, with Jennifer teasing what could happen in the upcoming episodes: “Something massive happens, which has a pretty huge knock-on effect.

“I can’t say if Silas makes it – if he does, maybe he’ll be back again. If not, queue up for the next serial killer – as there’s always one hanging around Hollyoaks!”

The star, who has appeared on the show for the last 16 years, elaborated further on these knock-on effects, saying the drama for the McQueens isn’t finished.

“The family are left massively questioning some things that have gone on. Silas brings a lot of secrets and problems to the surface that have been hidden away,” she said.

Watch Hollyoaks tomorrow night (September 28) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and 7pm on E4.
