I'm A Celebrity star secretly fed chocolate biscuits by bosses while co-stars went hungry

Former ‘it girl’ and TFI Friday star Catalina Guirado has confessed she was secretly fed chocolate biscuits by ITV bosses during her I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! stint.

The Channel 4 ‘Gorgeous Girl’, who modelled for mags like FHM, appeared on what was only the second series of the reality series in 2003 alongside the likes of Danniella Westbrook and Emmerdale’s Chris Bisson.

But, suffering from hypoglycaemia in the jungle, she had to be snuck out of camp by medics and offered extra glucose – while banned from telling her ITV campmates.

Catalina spoke exclusively to Daily Star to dish some camp gossip, explaining: “On my Bushtucker Trial, I nearly passed out – which wasn’t talked about.

“They just made me look as though I was making someone else do [the trial]. But I nearly fainted, and when I got back to camp I saw the doctor.

“They said I was hypoglycaemic. They’d zoomed into my pupils to check I wasn’t faking it, and were like, ‘We have to get her out now’.

“I wasn’t allowed to tell the campmates, but every day I got called into the office and I got given a chocolate biscuit. And I had to put extra glucose in my water very quickly so nobody knew.”

Seeing the starving campmates craving the meagre sweet treats from Kiosk Kev’s challenges, it’s no surprise that Catalina’s snacks had to be kept on the down-low.

Catalina admits that now “health and safety has improved a lot” after Olivia Attwood was withdrawn from the show due to an anaemia diagnosis.

The star also has a warning for this year’s campmates, after being struck down with a parasitic infection.

She said: “Everybody who goes on that show really needs to go and get parasite pills afterward. They don’t even know half of what is in the Australian jungle.

“We’re talking like 30million parasites. They seep in through the water and from all the bugs that you’re surrounded by and covered by, or from eating food that hasn’t been cooked properly.”

Catalina added: “I got a problem, I got so bloated and my body started being poisoned. I went to see a specialist and we discovered there was a parasitic infection.

“I do believe there are other people who have been in the jungle who had the same experience, but they just never spoke about it because it’s kind of gross.”

Her experience, she insists, isn’t unique to the jungle, as Catalina explained that in countries like France and Spain, people “worm themselves twice a year”.

“It can happen anywhere with dirty water,” she explained. “It’s just a thing that happens in life, but the fact that I was swimming with crocodiles in a disgusting brown pond filled with god knows what didn’t help!”
