Coleen Rooney, formerly know as Coleen McLoughlin, shot to fame as a 16-year-old school girl when her boyfriend Wayne Rooney was snatched up by Manchester United for £25million.
Their life is explored in a new Amazon Prime Video documentary, Rooney, released on February 11.
The 35-year-old is from Liverpool and was raised with her three other siblings by bricklayer dad Tony and mum Colette McLoughlin.
Coleen married the former England footballer in Italy in 2008 after first meeting at the age of 12.
The couple were paid around £2.5million for exclusive wedding content by OK! Magazine.
Wayne and Coleen share four sons together – Kai, 12, Klay, eight, Kit, six, and Cass, three.
The Rooneys, as of last year, have moved into their Cheshire mega-mansion after four years of delays.
Coleen made a name for herself after becoming one of the iconic WAGs alongside Victoria Beckham and Cheryl Cole.
She has used her profile to create TV shows, sell books and raise awareness of the genetic disorder Rett syndrome, which her younger sister suffered from.
Now the Daily Star takes a look into the life of the ultimate “Girl Next Door”.
‘Girl Next Door’
The WAG has created quite the name for herself after making several TV appearances and has written columns for OK! magazine and Closer where she discussed fashion and news.
Coleen has written two autobiographies – Welcome to My World, and Coleen’s Real Style – as well as several children’s books.
The mum-of-four decided to create her own series for ITV which was called Coleen’s Real Women in 2008.
The show searched for “real women” to front advertising campaigns as an alternative to models.
The ITV series became an excuse for people to give the nickname “the nation’s favourite girl next door” to Coleen.
The Liverpudlian has also struck mega deals with brands including Nike, ASDA, LG Electronics and Littlewoods, and has had her own perfume and exercise DVD.
Court battle
The “Wagatha Christie” row with Rebekah Vardy started in 2019 after Coleen shared a post online claiming fake stories had been leaked to newspapers by Vardy’s Instagram account.
Coleen took matters into her own hands to work out which of her friends had been sharing stories.
The ex-England footballer’s wife published different fake stories on Instagram to different people, and monitored which ones ended up as newspaper stories.
Coleen tweeted her findings, writing: “I have saved and screenshotted all the original stories which clearly show just one person has viewed them. It’s ……………. Rebekah Vardy’s account.”
Rebekah took to social media to deny any involvement in the leaking.
Last year, Vardy, who was seven months pregnant at the time of the Twitter post, sued for defamation, claiming it has affected her mental and physical health.
Vardy was ordered to pay £10,500 towards Coleen’s legal costs after she won part of the court case in July 2021.
In December Coleen’s legal team dropped bombshell court papers dragging her agent Caroline Watt into the long-running battle.
The papers appear to demand the agent to detail her private communications with Vardy.
The libel trial is due to take place in April this year.
Tragic death
Coleen is the eldest of four children and was left heartbroken in 2013 after her adopted teenage sister died.
The WAG’s family welcomed Rosie McLoughlin to their clain at two years old.
Rosie faced a lifelong battle with Rett syndrome, a rare brain disorder that causes severe disabilities.
Coleen chose Rosie as her chief bridesmaid when she married Wayne in 2008.
In 2013, the star cut her holiday in Barbados with her younger brothers Joe and Anthony short after hearing of Rosie’s condition worsening.
She shared her sorrow at the time on Twitter, she said: “We are absolutely heartbroken to have lost our angel Rosie.
“So glad we ended our holiday short, due to her deteriorating and we was able to spend the last few days together with her and our family! Sleep tight Rosie Mc x. We love you more than words can say x.”
Coleen has used her profile to raise awareness of genetic disorder Rett syndrome.
She has appeared on Tonight with Trevor McDonald discussing the syndrome that her younger sister had suffered from and created a TV documentary about the funding of children’s hospices to raise awareness of places such as Claire House in Liverpool, where Rosie stayed two nights a week.
