The new comic book adaptation stars Robert Pattinson as the caped crusader, joining forces with Zoe Kravitz’s Catwoman.

With the role already made famous by stars including Adam West and Christian Bale, fans will be eager to see Robert Pattinson’s interpretation of the famous superhero.

It is one of Robert’s many film roles since rising to fame as Edward Cullen in 2008’s Twilight – and the actor has certainly led an interesting life since then.

To celebrate the release of The Batman, Daily Star takes a look inside Robert Pattinson’s life.

Huge net worth and modelling career

Long before Robert Pattinson became one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, the hunky actor showed off his trademark good looks at a model.

However, he developed a love of acting as a teenager and later landed his first big screen role as the charming Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and The Goblet Of Fire.

His acting abilities did not go unnoticed and a few years later, Robert rose to global fame as the brooding vampire Edward Cullen in the Twilight film series.

After becoming one of the hottest actors in Hollywood, Robert has not left our screens, appearing in critically acclaimed films including The Lighthouse, Water For Elephants, Life and Good Times.

However after many years appearing in independent film productions, Robert is returning back to the mainstream with his next role as Bruce Wayne in 2022’s The Batman.

While filming The Batman, the actor made a shocking revelation to The Guardian, saying that despite his critically acclaimed performances, he doesn’t think he can act, saying: “I only know how to play scenes, like, three ways.”

He added: “Because I don’t really know how to act, I kind of wanted to somehow make it real, and one of the ways I’ve always thought makes that a little bit easier is if you shake up your physical state just before action.

“You end up walking into a scene having a different feeling.”

Despite taking the silver screen by storm, Robert Pattinson has since returned to his modelling roots as the face of Dior’s Homme fragrance and in 2016, became an ambassador for their menswear collection.

It is no surprise then that with his modelling and acting work combined, the actor has a staggering net worth of £74million.

Anxiety battle

Following his rise to fame, Robert has spoken openly about living with anxiety and depression.

In an interview with The Daily Telegraph, he revealed that coping with the fame of the Twilight Saga was difficult, saying: “I had a bit of a struggle at first because my life really contracted and I couldn’t do a lot of the stuff I used to be able to do.

“But once I got through that a year or two ago I just accepted my life is something else and now I can’t really remember what it was like before. So it’s much easier to deal with.”

Talking about living with anxiety and depression, he also added: “I kind of like my anxiety in a funny sort of way and I like my peaks and troughs. Luckily depression never lasts long with me.

“I would love to go into therapy but it makes me too anxious.”

In an interview with Australia’s Sunday Style Magazine, he also revealed that he suffers with Body Dysmorphia Disorder, explaining that it is something he has lived with all his life.

“I get a ton of anxiety, right up until the second I get out of the car to the event, when suddenly it completely dissipates,” said Robert.

He added: “Body dysmorphia, overall tremendous anxiety. I suppose it’s because of these tremendous insecurities that I never found a way to become egotistical. I don’t have a six-pack and I hate going to the gym. I’ve been like that my whole life. I never want to take my shirt off.”

Heartbreaking split

One of the romances that set Hollywood alight was straight out of the pages of a novel, Robert Pattinson met Kristen Stewart on the set of Twilight in 2008.

Playing teenager Bella and vampire Edward, their onscreen chemistry translated off-screen, and they dated for over five years.

It is reported that she and Robert finally got together on the set of Twilight: New Moon in 2009, following her break up with fellow actor Michael Angarano.

Fans went wild for the couple, with Robert telling the Daily Mail: “When we’re together, we understand each very well.

“We know what each other is thinking and we have been very close for a long time. Kristen is a wonderful girl.”

During a recent interview with DJ Howard Stern, Kristen also revealed that she would have married Robert, adding that the actor is “the best,” and that he was her first love.

However, the couple briefly split up after Kristen was pictured kissing Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders in 2012, after starring in the film as the main character.

She issued a public apology to Robert at the time, saying: “This momentary indiscretion has jeopardised the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob.

“I love him, I love him, I’m so sorry.”

After issuing the statement, Kristen and Robert got back together, but then permanently split in 2013.

Engagement and supermodel girlfriend

After his break-up from Kristen Stewart, Robert began dating the musician FKA Twigs in 2014.

The couple were together for over three years, with the couple becoming engaged in 2015.

However, they later split up in 2017, with sources saying to The Sun and E! News that the couple had drifted apart, but that they still had “love for each other.”

One year later in 2018, rumours began to circulate that Robert was dating the model Suki Waterhouse, after they were pictured together at a screening of Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again in London.

Suki has previously dated actors including Bradley Cooper and James Marsden, before confirming her relationship with Robert two years later in 2020.

Robert has also shared a sweet insight into how much Suki’s reaction to The Batman meant to him, telling Jimmy Kimmel Live: “It was really her reaction that kind of changed the entire thing because I’m pretty sure she’s not normally into watching superhero movies.

“And just seeing that it was capturing her attention the entire time and then she held my hand and touched it [to her face] and I could feel a little tear. And I was like, no way!”

However, despite having a number of high profile relationships, Robert prefers to keep his relationships private, telling The Sunday Times: “If you let people in, it devalues what love is.

“If a stranger on the street asked you about your relationship, you’d think it extremely rude. If you put up a wall it ends up better.

“I can’t understand how someone can walk down the street holding hands, and it’s the same as when I do it and a hundred people are taking your photo.

“The line between when you’re performing and when you’re not will eventually get washed away and you’ll go completely mad.”
