Jada Pinkett Smith has teased the return of her award-winning podcast but left fans shocked after she failed to mention her husband Will’s infamous Oscars slap.
Red Table Talk, the Facebook Watch series hosted by Pinkett Smith, her daughter Willow Smith, and Pinkett Smith’s mother Adrienne Banfield Norris aka “Gammy,” will officially return for its fifth season on April 20.
While fans had high hopes for the trio to discuss the major slapping episode in the teaser, Jada, 50 made no mention of the incident in the teaser at all.
The popular Facebook Watch programme sees them interview Hollywood stars as part of their Red Table Talk series.
Season 5 teased huge names including Ireland Baldwin and her mum Kim Basinger.
Janelle Monáe and Shark Tank’s Barbara Corcoran will also feature in the new season.
And in one episode Willow is joined by brother Jaden and her rarely seen stepbrother Trey. “We’re back… at the table,” the trailer reads.
Fans soon discussed the show’s return and how there was no mention to the moment Will hit Chris on stage over a joke he had made about Jada’s alopecia battle – comparing her to G.I. Jane.
One wrote: “So, we’re not going to talk bout that Oscar night, Jada?”
While another added:” Yeah … is there anyone else here who doesn’t have a care in the world about the #redtabletalk to justify #theslap @TheAcademy!”
A third chimed: “Nobody wants to hear what this family thinks about anything of importance…”
“So happy to see this show coming back. Go win another Emmy, ladies!”, said a fan.
Despite not mentioning the infamous moment, sources have claimed the mother and daughter will be discussing the controversial night.
Insiders told Radar Jada and Willow had a conversation and decided what they would and wouldn’t say around the table.
It’s also been said Will, 53, who won Best Actor for his role in King Richard, refused to talk to reporters following the incident.
Will sent shockwaves through Hollywood after he marched up to Chris Rock, who was presenting the Academy Awards, and slapped him after he made a joke about Jada.
“Jada, I love you, G. I. Jane 2, can’t wait to see it,” the former Saturday Night Live star, 57, joked.
The joke was referencing Demi Moore’s shaved head in the 1997 movie, but Jada suffers from alopecia.
Will Smith has since been banned from attending the awards ceremony for ten years following the incident.
