Johnny Depp ‘s ex fiancé, Jennifer Grey, 62, has said that his ongoing trial with Amber Heard “breaks her heart”.
The Dirty Dancing star, who was briefly engaged to Depp, 58, in the late 1980s, shared her views on the trial with Entertainment Tonight.
She said: “All I can say about that trial is that it breaks my heart for everybody involved.
“I just think it’s sad and I wish it was resolved and I just wish everybody well,” she added.
The 62-year-old recalled what it was like when she became romantically linked with the actor, which occurred shortly after her relationship with Matthew Broderick, 60, ended.
The Ferris Bueller’s Day Off star explained: “To me, this guy was the answer to my problems. This guy was sweet, and loving, and romantic, and crazy about me, and beautiful.”
She revealed she was in “desperate need” of rebounding into something that “looked and felt like 1989 Johnny Depp.”
“I was bleeding out inside and this guy saved me and just made me… not feel what I was feeling,” she added.
Depp, who was married to Heard, 36, from 2015 to 2017, is suing his ex-wife for defamation because of an op-ed she published in the Washington Post in 2018.
During Heard’s second day on the stand, she alleged that Depp sexually assaulted her with a vodka bottle and kicked her in the back.
A spokesman for the Pirates of the Caribbean star has since come out and accused Heard of “delivering the performance of her life”.
They also insisted The Danish Girl star has added “new details” to her recollections in court while alleging Depp’s have “remained exactly the same”.
The spokesman said: “As [his] counsel predicted in their opening statements last month, Ms Heard did indeed deliver ‘the performance of her life’ in her direct examination.
“While Ms Heard’s stories have continued to grow new and convenient details, Mr Depp’s recollections have remained exactly the same throughout the six painful years since her first allegations were made.”
The trial continues.
