Katie Price slams TV bosses who told her to 'keep quiet' after gunpoint hijacking

Katie Price has claimed television bosses didn’t do enough to protect her while she was filming one of her reality TV shows.

The former glamour model was referencing the ordeal that saw her and her children held at gunpoint in 2018 while she was filming her show, My Crazy Life for Quest Red,

Katie, 44, when she and her children, Harvey, Junior and Princess were travelling by car from Swaziland to Johannesburg when a group of thugs launched an attack.

Their car was forced to make a stop at the side of the road when Junior, aged one, at the time needed the toilet.

Katie claims she was groped with the group held at gunpoint while the attackers ransacked the vehicles of laptops, iPods, passports, jewellery and cash – leaving behind expensive camera equipment.

Taking to Instagram, Katie shared a screenshot of a recent article during which, Caroline Flack’s mum claimed television bosses could have done more to protect her late daughter.

Caroline’s mum, Christine said it was “ironic” that she was sacked from hosting Love Island when her personal life was in turmoil amid her court case for allegedly assaulting her former boyfriend Lewis Burton.

Katie penned: “Yes totally agree TV channels have a lot to answer for with making you film things when they know about your mental health and don’t help.

“And when you’re told to keep quiet when you’re hijacked and taped at gunpoint in front of your children because they didn’t have security and I still suffer from that trauma today.”

Speaking about the attack, Katie admitted she went to The Priory rehabilitation clinic and was subsequently treated for post-traumatic stress disorder.

She told The Sun: “I got held at gunpoint and sexually assaulted.

“It was like something from a horror film, this big man in an Adidas hoody was shouting in my face, swearing and demanding I give him everything and he was touching me down below.

“I grabbed a pillow and launched myself in front of the kids, trying to protect them, waiting for a bullet to hit me, I thought I was going to die.”

The businesswoman didn’t go ahead with pressing charges and stated she “couldn’t face the ordeal”.

Katie and Quest Red parted ways amicably in 2020, with the star saying she “wanted a break from intense reality for personal reasons after coming out of the Priory.”

Daily Star has approached Quest Red and ITV for comment.
