Love Island's Amy Day claims producers manipulate 'fake and restricted' ITV show

Love Island’s Amy Day reveals behind-the-scenes secrets of the ITV2 dating show and how much producers really get involved.

Talking about her time on the show exclusively to the Daily Star, Amy opened up about how shocked she was at some elements of the programme.

Amy, 25, said: “It was quite restricted, so I actually thought it would be a lot more fun than it was.

“Producers would tell you when to do everything like, wake up now, go to bed now, do this now.

“It was more than what I thought before I went in, I wasn’t stupid I went in knowing this is a game show but I thought I’d be able to wake up at 8am and go for a swim, have a coffee. They don’t control you but they manipulate you.”

When asked what the most shocking thing about her stay was, she said: “Shocking? The boys, I thought they were going to throw in men but they threw in boys. I told them I only went for men but nope! It was like good luck, Amy!”

Talking about any kinky elements of the house and the hideaway – Amy said that she never saw but was under the idea there was a sex toy drawer.

She added: “I think there was a sex toy drawer but I didn’t even get to go into the hideaway though, I was in and out like a flash.”

Amy also shared some advice for new Islanders and said: “Just be yourself – but noted, that sometimes doesn’t work. Just throw yourself in and don’t be scared and don’t be worried.”

But what is one thing she wishes she knew before going into the villa?

“I wish I knew how fake it was, everything was fake, but Hugo was the biggest example of fakeness, to be honest,” she quipped.

“He was playing the nice boy card but he was the opposite. I’m not surprised we haven’t heard of him for a while. . I’ve got no regrets apart from staying with Hugo,” she concluded.

The Daily Star reached out to ITV who declined to comment.
