Love Island's Paige Thorne quits booze and admits she 'isn't in a safe and happy place'

Love Island star Paige Thorne has admitted that she is “really struggling” and has decided to ditch the booze after recent issues.

Paige recently spoke to The Sun about her sudden sobriety after she left the villa back in July and while some will be enjoying a drink or two round the festive season, Paige has decided to turn her back on the drink.

She revealed: “I’ve given up alcohol, it’s been three weeks now, because I’ve realised that I don’t like the person I become when I drink. So, until I’m in a safe and happy place, I want to stop drinking.”

Thorne also added that she is “happy being single” right now.

Paige was coupled up with serial dater Adam Collard when she was in the villa and the pair seemed truly loved up while they were on air.

However, the pair decided to split up recently and rumours have been flying that she has reunited with fellow islander Jacques O’Neill.

The 23-year-old left the show for mental health reasons while Paige decided to stay and pursued a relationship with Adam.

As Jacques said his goodbyes, he promised Paige that he would pick her up from the airport and that he would wait for her on the outside.

A source spoke to The Sun about the rumoured blossoming romance.

They said: “Paige and Jacques clearly got on really well with each other on the show. They have hung out whenever they see each other and one thing has led to another. It’s all just a bit of fun at the moment, but they have both said ‘never say never’.”

Despite the seemingly happy news, Paige also spoke to Cosmopolitan about the rumours and there appeared the be a different side to the story.

She noted that rumours have been “spreading” that the pair are “back in contact” and that they are “going to be reunited”.

However, Thorne confirmed: “We’ve literally had one conversation on the phone. It’s just friends. Everyone can chill out with the speculation that ‘Paige and Jacques, she’s going to go back to him’. It’s not quite like that. We’re just friends.”
