Married At First Sight UK star furious as 'great' scenes cut from wedding episode

Married At First Sight UK’s Richie Dews has expressed his annoyance after a “great” scene didn’t make the final edit.

The rocker who tied the knot with Lara Eyre delighted viewers as he performed a specially written song for his new bride who he first met at the alter.

Richie, 51, and Canadian Lara instantly hit it off on their wedding day with even Lara’s son getting on with his nephew.

He also explained that he’s often fearful that his partner will leave him or “he’s not good enough”, but didn’t get those vibes from Lara.

Now, speaking exclusively to the Daily Star, the musician who has previously appeared on ITV’s Take Me Out, Richie admits he wished viewers saw one key scene.

He said: “I did get to chat to the father-of-the-bride at the wedding and he was a really lovely guy.

“So I kind of wish this had made the cut and some of his great speech had been included.”

“Aside, the viewers definitely missed out on the bridge and chorus of the wedding song!”

Richie from Sheffield, South Yorks, admits that the producers of the show certainly painted him in true spirit, explaining: “You really have to put your faith in the production company from the very start to get the most out of the experience and for me, it’s definitely been so far so good.

“You try to be as true-to-yourself as possible throughout the experiment but let’s face it, there’s always going to be times you look away from the screen but that’s life.

“Nothing’s ever perfect and being a part of this whole thing really is something to be celebrated, at least by me!”

Reflecting on his nephew being a part of his big day, he added: “My nephew is a super-mature and switched-on young man and I love the fact that he always has my back.

“He seemed to get on well with her son which made me proud and it really was a nice thing to see on the big day.”

While some former contestants have expressed their regret after taking part in the show, this is not the case for Richie.

“I had a brilliant time and what’s not to love? A beautiful wedding, an amazing honeymoon destination and the chance to spend time with amazing people, both cast and crew,” he exclaimed.

Richie added: “I saw the whole MAFS experiment as something very positive that offered a unique and privileged insight into life, love and people.”

During his introduction, many were left shocked to discover that Richie had been a member of the rock band Dare alongside Professor Brian Cox.

“I’ve got firm plans to release the song I sang at the wedding and as I’m no longer tied into any contracts, I’m excited to speak to record labels/management and hope to secure an album release somewhere down the line,” he said of a return to music.

The hitmaker continued: “I managed to pen a bunch of songs during my time in the experiment so it’s kind of turning out like a MAFS Soundtrack.

“Hopefully, the viewers might get behind me and the song and then who knows what can happen? Maybe I’ll get the chance to join Gary Barlow & the boys if they have a Take That reunion.”
