Masked Dancer stars spill 'obvious' skating clues which gave away hidden identity

Double act David and Frankie Seaman admitted their intricate dance routines had too many skating references in their routines during their time on The Masked Dancer.

On Saturday (October 1), viewers were left utterly gobsmacked after Pillar and Post were unmasked as the Danci ng on Ice couple after five weeks on the hugely popular ITV show.

During their time on the series, the former footballer and his wife Frankie, both 59, fully embraced their larger-than-life postal characters as they danced their socks off in an attempt to wow the judges with their impressive moves.

Now, in an exclusive interview with Daily Star, Frankie and David explained what some of the tell-tale signs that gave away their real identities hidden under the mask.

The profession ice skater explained: “I’m not too sure about the clue package because the people who write the clues are really clever and really cryptic.

“But I think it was just our mannerisms, our height difference, and I think really it was the skating manoeuvres.”

The couple were forced to removed their skating moves from their dance routine

She went on to reveal how the pair had to change their dance routine moments before they were due to go on stage.

Frankie continued: “We had a load more skating tricks in there but they made us take them out because they were like, ‘It’s too obvious, it’s too skate-y’.

“So right at the last minute we had to change our whole routine around which was a bit off-putting.”

David revealed some of the other clues that hinted at his sporting background, including links to his former coach Bob Wilson on the show.

He explained: “There was a couple of one’s like ‘Bob’s your uncle – which Bob Wilson’s the keeper out there and he’s out coach.

“And the backward caps on the bench, and we did actually count them and there was 75 so they got that spot on.”

One of the biggest issues the pair faced during their time on the show was deceiving their close friend and fellow sporting pal Peter Crouch who joined the judging panel for the first time this year.

Frankie admitted: “But I think as soon as – we didn’t know that Peter Crouch was going to be on the panel when we signed up for the show because obviously, we started rehearsals before he joined.”

David chimed in with: “And I’ve done his show before, we’ve done a couple of shows with him. We know him really well.

“I think as soon as we knew he was on the panel we were like, ‘That’s it, he’s gonna know it’s us straight away’ – and he did, didn’t he? He could hardly contain himself.”
