Aled Jones has revealed the one performance he thinks cost him a spot in the The Masked Singer UK final.
The singer and radio presenter, 51, was unmasked as Traffic Cone last weekend after failing to win enough votes from the ITV studio audience.
Mushroom, Robobunny and Panda will compete in the grande finale on Saturday night to be crowned the winner of series three.
Traffic Cone kept fans guessing for a weeks with viewers suggesting that it could be Rob Brydon, Michael Ball or Russell Watson hiding in the wacky costume.
However, it was revealed that former Daybreak host Aled was behind the mask.
Speaking to Daily Star and other press following about exit, the star shared the moment he thinks he gave the game away.
He explained: “You don’t see anybody for the whole day, only your vocal coach who I loved working with. I tried to disguise my voice a lot.
“It wasn’t really about the singing for me. It was more about trying not to be me, which was tricky in the Toy Story song because it did sound like me unfortunately.
“I dunno if it was nerves because in rehearsals I tried to put all the croak in my voice but when it came to it I sounded like Welsh Aled Jones.”
Aled belted out a rendition of When She Loved Me from the Toy Story 2 soundtrack during his time in the competition.
When asked how he reacted when people started to quiz him about appearing on the show, Aled said: “I think from week two people thought it was me but I laughed it off and I’d say I’ve never seen the show.”
The tenor went on to reveal that he’s sent a message to comedian Rob Beckett over his Traffic Cone identity wind-up.
Comedian Rob, 36, cheekily claimed that ITV bosses replaced him and tweeted that he’ll take the broadcaster to court.
He first teased that he was Traffic Cone last month and the long-running joke continued over the weekend.
Rob, who has long insisted he was the character, continued the pretence even after it was revealed to be Aled.
Speaking about the hilarious wind-up, Aled told Daily Star and other press: “I did message him on Saturday night saying we should go on tour together.
“There was definitely not room for two people in the Traffic Cone costume. It was just me in there without a doubt.
“It was good actually because a lot of people started guessing it was me after the second week and Rob threw them off the scent. It was brilliant.”
The Masked Singer UK final airs Saturday on ITV at 7pm
