What happened to Matt Lucas’ partner?
Matt Lucas was the ex-partner of Kevin McGee, who passed away in 2009 in tragic circumstances.
They split in 2008, 18 months after getting hitched in a civil partnership
Kevin took his own life in 2009 after succumbing to heartbreaking battles with addiction and depression. Matt revealed to the Sunday Times he ended up “eating lots and having lots of sex” and admitted “as much as anything I was trying to distract myself”.
On the tenth anniversary of Kevin’s death, Matt said: “I loved him more than anyone I’ve ever met, and still do. He was so funny and silly and clever and kind and handsome and his smile made my heart soar.
“We were together for nearly six years and he made me the happiest man on the planet.”
He added on Instagram: “In the end he lost his battle with addiction and depression. I guess some people don’t have the armour for this world. I think of him probably a hundred times a day, every day. In truth, I think of little else.
“I would give anything to see him again and maybe one day I will, but for now I will be grateful for the time we had together and the love we shared. It was like no other.”
Who is Matt Lucas dating?
Matt Lucas doesn’t appear to be dating anyone at the moment.
He revealed to the Sun in 2019 that he was looking through dating apps in search of a partner, but has otherwise kept his romantic life out of the spotlight.
Matt said: “Sometimes they go, ‘you’re not Matt Lucas’, and I don’t know what to say.
“I’ve been on dates, yeah. People have been very nice. No shenanigans, just nice, proper, old-fashioned dates. If you see me on there, do say hello.”
He has also revealed he was not a fan of his experience on Grindr, and said: “I didn’t really like it because that was just meeting people for sex.”
