Olly Murs declares fans will 'never see him again' if upcoming album flops

Olly Murs has boldly declared that fans will “never see him again” if his upcoming album Marry Me doesn’t make it to the number one spot.

The former X Factor star, who appeared on the show back in 2009, hosted an intimate album listening party and spoke to the audience about his recent music.

The singer hasn’t released new material in four years and is clearly excited to be back in the business – with his fiancee Amelia Tank as his muse.

His new album is titled Marry Me and features one very sweet track which he wrote just for Amelia, which is told by Olly as they take their first dance.

Murs has poured his heart and soul into this album and admits it’s nothing like he’s ever done before.

He spoke about the new release with a beaming smile and gave a serious threat to his fans if the album doesn’t chart.

Olly said: ““If the album doesn’t go to number one, I said this earlier, I will ‘die of a broken heart’. This album deserves to be number one! I think it deserves people to listen to it, to hear it.”

The appropriately named Die of a Broken Heart is the first track on the album, but Olly explained that he loves all of the music he has created for the project.

Olly’s seventh studio album is his biggest triumph

He said that the songs on the album are “monsters” and that he is “really proud” that there are no features.

Olly recalled: “I didn’t want to go through all that stuff, contacting people and asking them. I thought: ‘Do you know what? I want to do an album that is just me. All about me, my voice, my stories’. If people love it? Great!”

The former X Factor star continued: “I’ll be here as long as people want me here. If this album comes out and goes to number 19 in the charts, you won’t see me again.”

Murs made a clear statement to his supporters

He also reflected on his career, which has spanned over a decade since he debuted on Simon Cowell’s talent show.

Murs added: “Genuinely, you know when your time is up. I don’t want to be one of those artists that does things for the sake of it. I’ve been very lucky, I’ve worked hard at it.”

Olly has announced 11 arena dates for his UK tour in 2023, which go on sale Friday 14 October here.

Marry Me is his 7th album and fans can expect to see it on shelves on 2 December as well as hearing it all over the country when he performs in Glasgow, Leeds, London, Brighton, Liverpool and many more.
