Only Fools and Horses star Patrick Murray has thanked his fans for their ongoing support the past few months after he was diagnosed with lung cancer last year.
The actor, 65, gave his followers an update of how he is getting on as he revealed his lung cancer is cured – but added there was still more to go.
Patrick, who played Mickey Pearce in the BBC sitcom, explained that following an operation to remove the tumour in October he underwent chemo to keep the cancer from returning.
However, during chemo, he explained that another tumour was found in his liver, though it was “unconnected” to the lung cancer and “treatable”.
Patrick wrote: “I had a procedure called TACE (transcatheter arterial chemoembolization) to deal with this.
“Last Friday I saw my oncologist. She told me the lung cancer was cured and that the tumour in my liver was shrinking. It’s not over yet, but as you can imagine I am over the moon with this latest news.”
Seemingly referring to the Only Fools and Horses fan convention, he added: “Thanks to the brilliant doctors and nurses of our NHS, I will hopefully be there at next year’s convention.”
His fans were quick to share their well-wishes to the star with one user writing: “Great news Patrick that you’re all clear. That’s the Only Fools spirit.”
Another said: “That’s great news Patrick. Keep fighting fella, you will be back doing Akido anytime now.”
A third wrote: “This really is fantastic news, Pat! Make sure you take it easy and rest up so the world can prepare itself for your return!”
Murray played the dim yet loveable Mickey alongside David Jason as Del Boy and Nicholas Lyndhurst as Rodney Trotter on Only Fools And Horses from 1983 to 2003.
Despite ending almost two decades ago, fans still line up to join the convention each year, but Murray has been unable to attend the 2022 event.
Multiple actors are in attendance this year, with Sir David Jason and Sue Holderness appearing on both Saturday and Sunday for the event.
