Lizzie Cundy has claimed members of The Royal Family have shared their concerns ahead of Meghan Markle’s first public debut in two years.
The television presenter has explained that members of the family are more concerned about Meghan than they are of Prince Andrew stepping out in public.
Andrew stepped down from public life ahead of settling his civil court case after being accused of sexual assault by Virginia Guiffree, who claims she was just 17 – Andrew has strongly denied all allegations.
Meghan, 40, stepped down from royal life in January 2020 and relocated to California and has since dropped several bombshell allegations against her in-laws.
Speaking exclusively to the Daily Star, the television presenter said: “I know that the palace are very worried, they’re more worried about her than Andrew because they’re worried about what will be said.
“They’re worried about what will be used in interviews or in the memoirs.
“The other royals are very concerned about Meghan being there and the ramifications of her being there, what will Meghan be doing next?”
The original WAG added: “I don’t think it’s very fair on our Queen to be honest, I think she should have stayed away and been with her father.
“I think that would have been the right thing to do and I think she would have won a lot of sympathy with a lot of people if she’d done the right thing.”
Discussing Andrew potentially appearing at the service of Thanksgiving for his mother on Friday June 3, Lizzie said: “I do think Andrew will make an appearance, it’s the Queen’s wishes.
“We all know whatever he may have done, he’s her son, he’s always been known as her favourite son and she wants him to be somehow part of it.
“Whether that is the right thing to do is another matter but at the end of the day, it’s the Queen’s choice, I do believe he will be there, not on the balcony.”
Lizzie previously said it was “terrible” for Meghan to decide to travel to the UK rather than visit her dad, Thomas, who recently suffered a major stroke.
She told us: “I think it’s really sad that Meghan couldn’t go and see her father when she was just a couple of hours away.
“Whatever happens, all families have problems but when something like that happens, you go to their side, whatever, it’s blood – it’s family.
“He did bring her up, I think it’s very sad that she can be having a photo opportunity at the school shooting when only two hours down the road is her father.”
Today, the Queen will join Prince Charles, Camilla the Duchess of Cornwall, Prince William, Catherine the Duchess of Cambridge and other senior working royals on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
It was announced by the palace that after “careful consideration” royals including Harry, his wife Meghan, Prince Andrew and his daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie would not make an appearance on the balcony.
