Fans have branded singer Shane MacGowan a “legend” after he joined social media platform, TikTok for the first time.
The 64-year-old, who is best known as the lead singer of The Pogues and for his Christmas duet The Fairytale of New York, appeared a little shaky as he posted his first video on the app.
Sitting down in a green chair, Shane delighted fans with his short clip which quickly amassed over 21,000 likes on the platform.

Talking directly to the camera, the Dirty Old Town singer said: “Welcome to Shane MacGowan on TikTok.
“I hope you enjoy, God bless,” he added.
Fans quickly headed straight to the comment section to share their thoughts.
One person wrote: “Fairytale of New York is still the best Christmas song xxx love to you and your family.”
Another penned: “Sending my best wishes to you. Love Fairytale of New York and your version of Dirty Old Town.”
A third social media user said: “U LEGEND it ain’t Christmas until u hear Fairytale of New York. God Bless u an may the eternal light shine bright on you.”
Meanwhile a fourth added: “We Love you Shane- Such a fantastic Artist & Incredible songwriter. I love – A Pair of Brown Eyes…Best wishes from San Francisco.”
Elsewhere in the post fans were sharing their concern for the once hell-raising star, with one user writing: “So sad to see you like this,” while another added: “I hope you’re doing well.”
Shane sported a bushy beard and white hair while he also wore a black shirt and jumper along with black trousers, finishing with a large silver crucifix chain.
Earlier this month, the singer made a rare public appearance in Dublin as he celebrated the launch of his book, The Eternal Buzz and the Crock of Gold.
The publication includes some of Shane’s self-portraits, school essays and unpublished handwritten lyrics.
The singer, who fractured his pelvis in 2015 and is now wheelchair bound, was spotted enjoying a drink alongside his wife Victoria Mary Clark and other famous faces.
For his book launch, Shane went for a smart-casual look wearing black trousers and a t-shirt which he also paired with a dark blazer, patterned scarf and dark sunglasses.
After leaving his band in 1991, Shane continued to perform but was plagued with years of troubles, battling with alcohol and drugs that saw him lose all his teeth as a result.
However the artist turned his life around and received new teeth implants in 2015.
