Strictly Motsi Mabuse says judges aren't friends as there's 'so much pressure' on show

Strictly Come Dancing star Motsi Mabuse has claimed that the show’s judges are not pals away from the BBC show.

She spoke to The Telegraph about the lineup – former contestant Anton Du Beke, Craig Revel Horwood and Shirley Ballas – and admitted that they aren’t keen to spend time together once filming has wrapped.

Motsi has also been a judge in the competition since she joined the panel in 2019 and shared some insight into the group dynamic.

She denied their friendship and said: “No, none of that. There are some moments where you write: ‘Happy Birthday,’ or something like that.”

The Strictly panel seem strong and although they often argue and disagree with each other’s decisions, they have a vital presence in the BBC One competition.

Motsi and her co-stars apparently spend a lot of time apart

However, Motsi’s tell-all has shattered the glass for unsuspecting viewers.

She explained why they don’t spend any time together after the show is over and compared their relationship to the one she had with her fellow judges in Germany.

She went on: “In Germany, we’ve had the same judges for 10 years and there’s a basis of friendship. In the UK, it’s different.”

Mabuse confirmed: “There’s so much pressure. It’s prime time [television] so you get in, you do the job and everybody just wants to go home.”

The show has also been known to put strain on the relationships that the celebrity contestants have with their romantic partners.

The Strictly Curse has been known to break apart celeb couples in favour of their new dance partner throughout the competition and many famous examples include Stacey Dooley and Kevin Clifton, Joe Calzaghe and Kristina Rihanoff and Katya Jones and Seann Walsh.

However, the 2022 stars are determined not to fall into the trap and both Matt Goss and Molly Rainford have spoken out about their thoughts.

Matt has confirmed that his girlfriend Chantal Brown has backed his decision to join the lineup and said that the “Strictly curse doesn’t concern him at all” as he is “there to learn and that’s it”.

Chantal is reportedly “very supportive” and “wants him to smash” the competition, which she is “going to come and watch”.
