Oti Mabuse says she won’t care if Dancing on Ice viewers turn on her.
The show’s new judge is braced for a backlash online — and she’s happy for people to say what they think.
She told the Daily Star Sunday: “Social media is a vital part of the show. I genuinely love it. Whether it’s good or bad, they are talking about the show. They feel a certain way about it. So even when they’re angry, I love it.
“That’s why we have talent shows. We are trying to entertain people. So their opinions do matter — when it comes to what we say as judges and what people are dancing like.
“It’s important we keep that communication going with the fans of the show.”
Oti, 31, was a big talking point on social media when she made her debut on the panel last Sunday.
But she is calling on viewers to focus on the contestants from now on.
She added: “This is about the professionals and the celebrities having their moment. It’s not about me.
“I’m there to actually just critique what I think is great movement and celebrate them or help them get better so they can win.”
Oti has been hired to replace John Barrowman, 54, on the panel.
And she hopes her judging style will be a hit with fans.
She said: “I can be strict but I’ll be honest, I’ll be genuine and I’ll be passionate and I’ll be myself. I’ll always look for the good but also critique them and suggest what they can do to improve.
“I think I’m going to be looking for chemistry. I’m going to be looking for just that moment that gives you goosebumps. I’ll be looking for that every single week — to see them getting better, entertaining us – that’s what I want.
“I’ll be looking for people who love the show. It’s so obvious when somebody doesn’t love the show, isn’t obsessed with the show and I think the ones that are deserve to go far. They’re the ones that give their all and leave their heart out there.”
Dancing on Ice continues Sunday on ITV and ITV Hub
