Naga Munchetty was called out by TV chef Tom Kerridge following her seemingly “pulling a face” after he announced his favourite pub grub classic on Friday’s BBC Breakfast.
The 44-year-old host didn’t seem to be impressed with the answer she’d received about Tom’s favourite bistro pub food choice.
Speaking about Pub In The Park making a come back this year – which is a music and street food event hosted by Michelin star chefs, Naga asked: “If you could only ever have one pub meal for the rest of your life what would it be?”
The Hand and Flowers owner told her: “I mean, it’s got to be fish and chips hasn’t it? I mean it’s well known throughout the world.
“And if it’s done properly fish and chips is just the greatest thing out there.”
Noticing that Charlie’s co-host wasn’t enamoured with his suggestion, he said: “Are you turning your nose up at that?”
Looking red-faced, Naga quickly responded: “No. I wasn’t turning my nose up at that but it’s just….”
Turning his attention to Naga, Charlie interjected: “Was you turning your nose up?”
“No,” insisted the BBC presenter.
Tom explained: “There was a face, Charlie there was a face.”
Hitting back over the chitter chatter and laughter in the studio, Naga fumed about her facial expression: “It’s the one iIve been born with I can’t do much about that.”
She continued: “But, I just think I would want something more flavoursome. I’d probably choose….
“Was there a face?” joked Naga.
Confident with his selection, Tom argued: “You want something more flavoursome than fish, chips curry sauce, mushy peas?”
“You’ve got to hold the curry sauce,” disagreed the outspoken red sofa star.
“Oh really? asked the Marlow pub owner before Naga added: “Mushy peas yeah.”
“And gravy,” chimed in Tom before Charlie swiftly moved the debate on.
